MSI has now offically launched its X460 and X460DX ultra-thin Sandy Bridge equipped 14-inch notebooks and these are now shipping across the pond.

As a part of its X-Slim series, the X460 and the X460DX will both feature a sleek design with 1-inch thick metal chassis and quite a few details that should make them stand out in the increasingly crowded ultra-thin market. Both notebooks have the same 239.4x339x22.3mm (13.35x9.43x1-inch) dimensions and weigh 1.98kg (4.3lbs) without the battery.

Both also feature the same glossy LED-backlit 1366x768 14-inch screen and will also feature a chiclet keyboard, Bluetooth, 802.11bgn WiFi and Gigabit LAN connectivity, a 1.3M webcam, card reader, D-Sub and HDMI outputs and two USB 3.0 ports.

MSI went with a 6-cell battery that should, at least according to MSI, keep 460 seires notebooks running for up to eight hours. Of course this MSI prediction will solely depend on the SKU and its hardware.

As far as the specs are concerned, the X460 will pack Intel's Core i7-2630QM paired up with HM65 chipset and Intel HD 3000 graphics. It has a 750GB 7200rpm HDD, 6GB of DDR3 memory, DVD Super-multi drive, and unlike the X460DX has support for Intel's Wireless Display 2.0.

The X460DX will pack either Intel Core i5-2410M or the Core i3-2310M CPU paired up with the same HM65 chipset but with Nvidia's GT540M 1GB GDDR3 graphics card. It has up to 500GB of HDD space and either 6 or 4GB of DDR3 memory. The rest of the specs are pretty much identical to X460 series although it lacks Intel's WiDi2.

Of course, both of these are currently available in the EU with a start price set at €599, and now they are also available in the USA. You can check out the full lineup here.
