Windows Phone chief not impressed with iOS, Android

The same way consumers are not impressed with Windows Phone

In an interview with The Seattle Times, Windows Phone boss Andy Lees said he was not very impressed by Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android operating system for that matter.

Lees believes Apple missed an opportunity with the iPhone 4S, and we have to agree. However, the market does not agree and the “new” phones are selling like hot cakes. According to analysts, Apple managed to score as many as one million preorders for the new handset. In the meantime, Microsoft sold about seventeen Mango phones.

Lees also had some unkind words about Android. He believes development was too chaotic and as a result some of the phones weren’t great. Frankly, Lees does have a point here. Google and phone vendors failed to standardize some rather basic things, such as the layout of capacitor buttons and there were a lot of update issues with some pretty popular handsets.

Windows Phone won’t be as fragmentized as Android and Lees promises a more coherent user experience. Sadly, there are still very few Windows Phone 7 handsets on the market, not to mention Mango phones. Nokia should unveil its first Mango phones by the end of the month and other vendors already have them in the pipeline. However, Microsoft still has a lot of catching up to do.
