Amazon builds “millions more” of Kindle Fire tablets

Strong pre-orders to blame

We strongly believe that Kindle Fire has a good chance to become a game-changer in the tablet market, and that it will end up in lot of tablet-less homes this year. The price is right, the hardware is decent, and this should be convincing enough for many users to go for it over other Android tablets or Apple’s pricey iPad.

During the Q3 financial conference call, Mr. Amazon, CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that Kindle pre-orders for new e-ink devices are double the previous launch of Kindle generation. People really missed the touch and for $79+ for an e-book reader with days of battery life, it kind of makes sense to upgrade.

Bezos continues: "And based on what we're seeing with Kindle Fire pre-orders, we're increasing capacity and building millions more than we'd already planned."

Millions more than planned cannot be bad for the company that plans to seize a significant chunk of the tablet market and win one for Android team. The offensive against the iPad starts the USA and it will probably steam over the ocean to Europe in Higgins boats and rest of the world will follow a bit later.

However, in addition to the iPad, Amazon0s Kindle Fire will probably take a bite out of the Android tablet market, as it ends up cheaper than most and offers great value for money.

In fact, with a $199 price tag and 7-inch IPS 1024x600, dual-core processor and 400 gram weight, it looks like a very good deal, probably the best deal on the tablet market. In case you missed it by any chance, you can catch up on the details here.
