Apple has finally addressed the pesky iPhone 4S bug in its latest iOS 5.0.1 update.

According to consumers, the 790MB update does what it’s supposed to and most report that battery life on their new iToys has vastly improved as a result of the update.

The bug did not affect all iPhone 4S handsets to begin with, but it is probably a good idea to go for it anyway. The update also patches five security vulnerabilities, resolves a few iCloud sync bugs and a few other issues.

Crucially, the update also improves voice dictation accuracy for Australians, so it can now be used to transcribe News of the World hearings before the British Parliament.
