Tegra 3 slower than iPad 2 A5 GPU

GLBenchmark iOS optimized sources claim

Our German colleagues at heise.de have found out that some lucky chap from Lenovo with his Tegra 3 based tablet already submitted some Glbenchmark scores.

The benchmarks are derived from Lenovo LePad K2 pre production tablet powered by Android 3.2, 1920x1200 screen. The GLBenchmark 2.1 runs at 1280x800 resolution.

In Egypt Offscreen 720P test, Tegra 3 scores 63.1 FPS, Tegra 2 scores 24.1 FPS and iPad 2 with A5 and SGX 543 MP2 GPU scores 88.8 FPS. Even iPhone 4S with slower version of the chip scores 73.1FPS.

In PRO Offscreen 720 part of the test, Tegra 3 scores 82.6 FPS, Tegra 2 scores 42.4 FPS and iPad 2 with A5 and SGX 543 MP2 GPU scores 150.1 FPS. The iPhone 4S with slower version of A5 dual core chip scores 122.7FPS.

Our sources have said that GLBenchmark is heavily iOS optimised and that Tegra 3 final hardware should be close or slightly better than SGX 543 MP2, not losing by that much.

All in all, Tegra 3 should at least win some, and lose some against SGX 543 MP2 and iPad 2 / iPhone 4S chips, and not lose by such a high margin. We guess we should wait and see as Transformer Prime benchmarks should go live in the next two weeks, if not earlier.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA

OPTIMIZED MY ASS, LOLOOLOL

poor tegra 3 already can't compete with contemporary competitors

once adreno 225 or sgx 544 or the Mali T658 comes out, it would obliterate thie failgra 3

as usual, Nvidiots would deny every single evidence in existence and will continue to suck Jen Hsun Hwang's dick and worship all his "magical creations"

be ready to get 100 thumbs down from raging nvidiots

AHAHAHAHA :DDDDDDDDDDDDD

Right, because doubting one synthetic benchmark isn't an appropriate reaction..

If you would have learned anything over the years from the graphics community, it would have been that you never base your opinion on a single synthetic benchmark. You have to wait for more, and also more tests that simulate real-world performance scenario's. Tegra 3 has a lot more to it than an adreno, SGX or Mali, especially when it comes to resource/power management.

You call others Nvidiots, but clearly you are just the opposite then, a brand hating idiot. Learn to relax and don't jump the gun so quick.

Disappointing result from Tegra 3. I'm hoping that it's either very efficient, or very cheap. Or else.

If true, that is so friggin gay. AMD needs to make a Fusion chip of sorts for tablet. We'd know how that'll fair compared to these tegra chips.

AMD is planning to use their E-series bobcat architecture in some when they die shrink them to 28nm

Looks like a rubbish post. Some clown tested unreleased blah blah blah. When legit sites do the tests I'll pay attention.

It was pretty much expected, judging from the specs.
They seem to have concentrated more on the CPU side, considering that tegra 3's size with 4+1 cores is 80mm^2 and A5's with 2 cores is 122mm^2. That's about 50% larger. Most of that space is taken up by SGX543MP2.
Even though tegra 3 is 40nm vs. A5's 45nm, still that alone wouldn't result in such a difference.
