Warns on profit

Toshiba
has said that it will cost the company $1.24 billion to drop the HD-DVD format and has warned that its profits will be less than expected.

According to the Nikkei business daily said production line changes would double the 50 billion yen loss expected from trying to sell next-generation DVDs.

The company would still have an operating profit of 290 billion yen for the year through March, but this was not as good as it expected.
