AMD Radeon HD 7970 slide leaks

Written by Slobodan Simic

Looks legit

A slide that appears to be a part of press pack for the HD 7900 series has leaked online. The slide looks pretty legit and gives a detailed specs that were rumoured earlier.

As noted, the new HD 7970 is based on GCN architecture, features 32 CUs and 2048 ALUs. The card works at 925MHz for the GPU and features 3GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5.5GHz and paired up with a 384-bit memory interface. According to the slide, it packs 32 ROPs and 128 texture units. The most surprising detail from the slide is the idle board power that is set at below 3W. The max board power is at below 300W thus the card need 8-pin and 6-pin PCI-E power connectors. The card will pack one DVI, two mini DisplayPort and HDMI outputs.

The slide might be fake but for now all the details seem pretty correct considering what we have heard from our sources and various rumours. The NDA date is set at January 9th 2012.

Credits go to OBR-hardware site for leaking this one.

This slide was proven to be legit but too old and outdated. Current specs are a little diferent.

You forgot to say what you think is different and who your source is.
This slide looks legit to me. No surprises, but I was hoping the 1GHz core clock was real, but that's what overclocking is for.

Totally agree, 1GHz would be such a great selling point.

I would be pretty surprised if 1GHz isn't fairly attainable at 28nm but if that were true then either the above slide is wrong, the are having clock issues or the new GCN arch is so good that is destroys nVidia without needing 1GHz.

Side note, 3w idle is amazing! I hope that i can use my GPU on my CPU for all but gaming. Anyone know how well this works these days?

That to me alone is worth an upgrade, that idle power if true,is really amazing, the design on this chip would have to be really radical to achieve that, since more than 90 percent of the chip would have to be power gated. since the computer cpu and gpu, are in idle most of the time, it is becoming more important to have low idle power consumption.

Maybe the 1 gig isnt achievable within the 300 watt power limit set by AMD.

Otherwise looks awesome but I cant help thing that 48 rops woul dhave been a good upgrade.

Wow 3w idle that is really amazing. If they can do that to their CPU then Bulldozer will be more competitive and that is very good for us consumers.

Well there are few people here who does not know how good competition and its benefits. You know who you are. :-*

Keep dreaming boi ShitDozzer even at 14nm couldn't manage 3w idle either, maybe you'll buy it if AMD says so...us real enthusiasts will use a power meter & measure if its really using only 3w or not. If AMD even sold you monkey shit saying this is good, you would buy it. No wonder as per their analogy they say Shitdozzer is selling well, My friend has 3 computer shops he has sold only 1 shitdozzer in past month & a half that too a FX-8150 maybe only fag trolls buy shitdozzer but when they see an Intel i3 running they get jealous & come here & rate me down & tell me I'm talking shit but...

No more thanks to Fudzilla staff & other good non-biased posters.. AMD & it's Fag troll's BLACK SATANIC activities to mislead a normal user will be EXPOSED! In the end the TRUTH will PREVAIL!

Cheers! Happy Holidays! :)

STFU gayrrior24, Bulldozer has been out of stock by several weeks on Newegg and other popular etailers, at least there's some info on Tahiti, what about Kepple? fagrrior24
