Sega opens Sonic online store

If you are a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, now is your chance to latch onto the Sonic merchandise of your dreams. Sega has opened a new online Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise store. Oh, yes, you can believe this as true.

The cute little blue ball of fury is being branded on everything from electronics to posters to Sonic items to wear or collect. You name it, and if you can somehow put Sonic the Hedgehog on it, you will find it here. Some of our favorites include the Sonic iPhone/iPad skins and the Sonic Vs. Knuckles slot car track. Of course, the apparel items such as the Sonic beanie and the Eggman T-Shirt also caught our eye.

There is no word yet on if this is going to be a full time strategy for Sega to maximize the revenue they can generate from Sonic or if this is just a short-term collector thing.  Apparently, the store is only open in the U.K. currently, but plans for a North American opening are happening.
