Bonuses for Kickstarter funded game

by on16 February 2012

Schafer pleased with the response

Tim Schafer from Double Fine announced that they are pleased with the amount their Kickstarter-funded, “point and click” old school adventure title was able to raise; and because it raised so much, there are going to be some additional bonuses that were not planned. The initial goal was to raise only $400,000, and now donations are well over $1.8 million dollars.

The number of platforms is going to be increased. Originally, the game was targeted for just the PC on Steam, with a Mac version on Steam perhaps possible. Now, the game will be released on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS devices, and some Android devices that will be determined at a later date. The final release will be DRM free due to the response of the community funding the project; but the beta will only be available via Steam for both PC and Mac users.

That is not all. The game will now include voice acting in English with full subtitling in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. This is very big news, and quite an upgrade from where they started when they first thought about the project funding. The donations have raised an incredible $1.8 million, and you still have time to donate to the project as long as you do it before March 13th at 8 PM E.D.T. (after then the acceptance of funding will be closed). Some are now estimating that the project could raise $2.5 to $3 million dollars in funding before it is all said and done.
