The flagship of the Trinity lineup is going to end up with the A10 5800K brand.
The plans that AMD revealed to some of its partners are telling us that the chip with 100W TDP works at 3.8GHz while with turbo it can get to 4.2GHz. This sounds quite nice. It’s obviously a quad-core and it packs DirectX 11 HD 7660D graphics.
It fits the Virgo FM2 platform and supports saucy DDR3 1866. The other one that have caught our eye is called A10 5700 and this quad-core with the same GPU and 3.4GHz base clock fits the comfortable 65W TDP envelope. With Turbo it can still hit the magic 4GHz mark making it even more attractive.
Both of them, along with at least four other Trinity APUs, will be launching in early Q2 2012, and April should be a good bet at this time.
Trinity is a big thing for AMD and the company has high hopes with this chip in both mobile and desktop space. Just for the record, the chips that we just wrote about are all desktop, but we are expecting quite a few interesting mobile Trinity parts, including low-voltage versions for ultrathin notebooks.
