Google Drive said to be coming next week

by on17 April 2012

5GB of free cloud storage, cross-platform integration

Google is apparently planning to launch its new cloud storage service next week, Tuesday to be exact.

Google Drive should offer 5GB of free storage and cross platform integration for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. Google hopes to trump Dropbox, with 2GB of free storage and an elaborate referrals-for-storage program. Using referrals, users can eventually get up to 16GB of free storage on Dropbox, and so far it is unclear how much additional storage Google will offer on its service.

Google could still have the upper hand, as it could integrate other services in the package, i.e. Google Docs. Also, Google Drive could become a standard feature of Android sometime down the road.
