U.S. to get Midnight Purple 3DS

Written by David Stellmack

Fifth color option to hit on May 20th

Late last week we heard some rumblings that Nintendo might be releasing a new fifth colored version of the Nintendo 3DS into the North American market. The rumors were true, as retailer Sam’s Club broke its cover.

The Midnight Purple version of the 3DS will be on retailer shelves starting on May 20th where it will join the Aqua Blue, Flame Red, Pearl Pink, and Cosmo Black versions of the 3DS as the fifth color choice. It will be priced at $169, which is the same as the other units.

No word on whether Nintendo will release the Midnight Purple version into other regions, but for the moment it would appear it is a North American-only release.
