Second partner bought out

Yesterday Dopod became the second partner that HTC has bought up. Last year HTC purchased Qtek which was one of its partners at the time. Dopod is the biggest distributor of HTC devices on the Asian market and have been making custom version of the OS for various telephone companies on the Asian market under the Dopod brand name.

The acquisition won't be final until the 1st of July if it is approved by the Dopod share holders. HTC is not expecting to pay more than US$ 14.5 million for Dopod.

As with the purchase of Qtek, all new devices from Dopod after the 1st of July will get the HTC brand name treatment. All current Dopod products will remain under their current brand names.
