Acer talks up cheap 8- and 10-inch quad-core tablets

by on30 January 2013

Coming by the end of the year

Acer is apparently planning to release affordable 8- and 10-inch tablets based on quad-core SoCs.

In an interview with the China Times, Acer exec Linxian Lang said the tablets should feature “aggressive” price points. They will reportedly be based on quad-core Mediatek processors. Acer recently tapped Mediatek for its budget B1 tablet as well.

It is still unclear when Acer will introduce the new tablets, or whether they will be limited to certain markets.

Lang expects the new tablets to revive Acer’s “tablet momentum” and he believes Acer’s overall tablet shipments will increase in 2013.
