by on19 February 2013

4.7-inch 1080p screen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 600

HTC has unveiled its newest flagship smartphone, the HTC One. Built around a 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 1080p screen, the heart of the HTC One is Qualcomm's brand new Snapdragon 600 chipset.

The new HTC One smartphone comes with a machined aluminum unibody case, it measures 137.4x68.2x9.3mm (5.4x2.7x0.37-inch) and weighs 143 grams. It features a 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 screen with 1080p resolution which adds up to 468ppi protected by Gorilla Glass 2. The big news is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 chipset, with a quad-core Krait 300 CPU clocked at 1.7GHz, Adreno 320 GPU and a generous 2GB of RAM. It will feature 32 or 64GB (depending on the SKU) of storage space and nobody should be surprised that it lacks a mircoSD card slot.

The HTC One comes with a 2.1-megapixel front camera with 88-degree wide-angle lens capable 1080p video and a main rear "UltraPixel" camera. The rear camera is outfitted with a 4-megapixel BSI sensor and a f/2.0 lens so each pixel gathers 300 percent more light when compared to current smartphones. It also comes with image stabilization, HTC's ImageChip 2 for HDR, 1080p@28fps video and will be supplemented by HTC's new Zoe service that allows users to capture and share short videos.

The connectivity side includes 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS with GLONASS, LTE and IR port for home equipment control. It will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS although HTC noted that the 4.2.2 update is already being prepared.

The new HTC One will be available in black, silver and red colors and should launch in March. It will be available all around the world as HTC already announced that it made deal with more than 185 mobile operators and major retailers in more than 80 regions and countries. Unfortunately, the price has not been announced so we will keep an eye out for it.
