April Xbox Next reveal gains steam

by on25 February 2013

Registration of domain seems to cement it

Now that Sony has shown its hand, attention turns to Microsoft. We told you some time ago that various Internet chatter seemed to confirm what we were hearing, that an April reveal was becoming likely.

Now, according to a report at CVG, it would seem all but assured. When you add to this comments by VG247 and The Verge and then a new domain (XboxEvent.com) that was registered by Eventcore (who was the agency that handled Microsoft’s E3 press conference registration site last year at XboxE312.com) according to NeoGAF, it would seem that April is the right time frame outside of E3.

While April is ahead of E3, it is not that far ahead of E3. The only thing is that we think Microsoft will have to make some move to talk about their new hardware before GDC in March, so we don’t know how this is really going to work. Talk of two possible events has been whispered, but we just don’t see that working, holding one ahead of GDC or at GDC and then one in early April for a public press announcement. Stay tuned, as we expect this to sort itself out over the next could of days.

The Verge has some comments here as well.
