Pre-Computex 08: Intel QX9770 and Mobile Viper HD 3850

Smooth Creations
and Diamond Multimedia have teamed up to develop the "Broodling" notebook PC gaming system.

With specs like Intel's QX9770 CPU, Diamond Mobile Viper Radeon HD 3850, WD's 500GB Caviar SE16 hard drive, 4GB of GSkill's Dual Channel DDR2 memory and an external power supply, this is more of a desktop replacement than a full-blooded notebook.

This is the first notebook that uses Intel's QX9770 CPU, and certainly the first one with ATI's HD 3850 card. According to the press release, the mentioned specs are enough for 12822 3DMarks in 3DMark06. It just wouldn't be a special Smooth Creations notebook if it wasn't hand painted.

The more interesting was the statement that has caught our eye, where Mario Gastelum, Lead Engineer at Diamond Multimedia, states that the next high-performance achievement could be a Skulltrail Notebook, and that they are already working on it.

The press release does mention certain overclocking capabilities, but there is little info on the actual clocks of the Broodling Notebook, since Smooth Creations and Diamond Multimedia will showcase this notebook at Computex. We will do our best to get more info as soon as show starts.

Updated: If you look the screenshot closely enough you will find that the GPU in the picture is actually Geforce 8800M GTX while the CPU is Quad core at 2.66GHz. I guess we will have to look a bit closer next time.
