Bay Trail T for tablets expected in Q4

by on29 April 2013

August to October for most

According to some industry sources, Bay Trail based tablets can be expected in Q4 2013 a bit later than the original projection to see them between August to October. Missing August would mean slight delay and missing back to school shopping, but just in time for the holiday season 2013 that includes Thanksgiving, black Friday and the Xmas shopping frenzy.

The plan was always to ship these new quad core Atoms for tablets between August to October, so the current plan might mean just a slight delay. We have already mentioned that Q4 2013 was always the plan, some three quarters ago here, and it seems that we were right all along about it.

Intel promises all-day battery life (this means eight hours in Intel's universe ed.), weeks of connected stand-by, designs as thin as eight millimetres and an overall drastic performance increase over the existing Atom Z2760 dual core processors. Bay Trail T has support for Windows 8 and Android and we believe it will have a tough time to fight many ARM based tablets based on Windows Blue in the near future.

Let's not forget that according to current plans AMD Temash based tablet are supposed to show up in early June at the Computex 2013 show and that these tablets end up faster than Bay Trail T at least in graphics applications.
