Written by Slobodan Simic

The first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet

Although it was rumored and detailed earlier, Acer has decided that Computex 2013 is the right place to announce the new Iconia W3 and fulfill the promise of smaller sized Windows 8 tablets.

Built around an 8.1-inch 1280x800 touchscreen, the Iconia W3 is powered by Intel's dual-core Atom Z2760 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz and will be available in 32 and 64GB version. It runs, of course, on Windows 8 OS and features 2-megapixel cameras on front and rear, micro HDMI output and input, micro USB port for peripherals and external storage, microSD card slot in case those 32/64GB is just not enough and Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11bgn WiFi for connectivity. According to Acer, the keyboard should be enough to keep it running for around eight hours.

The new Acer Iconia W3 is scheduled to hit retail/e-tail in June with a US $329 and €379 price tag for 32 and 64GB version. Optional keyboard-dock will be selling for €69.
