New HD Strider is coming from Double Helix

by on19 July 2013

Will be a digital download title release in 2014

Capcom has confirmed that it has partnered with developer Double Helix Games to create a new Strider title. Capcom is calling the new Strider an HD revival of the Strider franchise.

Development of the new Strider is already in process, and the game this time around will offer an interconnected world with non-linear exploration, rather than using the tried and true model of traditional levels. The ability to return to places that players have already been will add a new element to the game, that is for sure.

Strider will featured a Super A ranked Strider Agent that is on a mission to kill Grandmaster Meio, who is the supreme dictator of earth, as the background for the story line. Not much change in that. The plan is to release the game as a digital download only when it arrives in early 2014. The game is currently being developed for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and the PC. A Wii U release is not planned.
