No plans for additional Darkstalkers releases

Capcom claims resurrection didn’t sell well enough

Capcom isn’t planning any future releases in the Darkstalkers franchise at this time. While that does not mean that they will not revisit the possibility in the future, at least for right now they have no immediate plans for another release.

According to Capcom fighting games manager Matt Dahlgren while speaking to Siliconera at San Diego Comic Con, Darkstalkers Resurrection didn’t meet the sales expectations that the company had for the title. While Dahlgren denied rumors that Street Fighter is dead and Darkstalkers was built using the Street Fighter engine.

Things have not been going all that swimmingly for Capcom as of late. Recent lay-offs and departures, coupled with a number of games not meeting their sales targets.
