Whispers turn out to be true on new BlackBerry

As we told you last week we suspected that the new BlackBerry Bold would be delayed. Now it appears as if our predictions from the whispers that we heard are coming true.

RIM and AT&T have been working hard to get the Bold ready for launch, but issues with the software, battery life, as well as some reports of overheating will delay the launch of the Bold on AT&T until at least mid-August. The Bold has yet to pass AT&T’s technical acceptance testing and currently lacks certification from AT&T.

What is strange about what we are hearing regarding the delay seems for the moment to only affect AT&T, but carriers Rogers in Canada and Vodafone in the U.K. seem to be moving ahead with their planned release of the Bold for the time being.

While we hear that RIM and AT&T are working hard to get things right with the Bold, these setbacks will affect the launch date. While it has been suggested that the launch of the Bold on AT&T may in fact slip to late August or early September, the real facts will only reveal themselves over time.

We are going to go out on a limb here and tell you that our moles are suggesting to us that Rogers and Vodafone may have another look, as well, which could end up delaying the Bold with those carriers, too, in the end. We know that RIM will not be at all happy with the delayed release of the Bold and the fact that it will come much later than expected.
