Bleszinski not headed to Black Tusk

by on29 January 2014

Franchise could not be in better hands

It almost seemed as if Cliff Bleszinski could not get the news out fast enough. In his blog he wrote, "I'm not going to move to Vancouver and work on it, and I'm not going to consult on it." All this is in reference to the news that Epic Games had sold the Gears of War franchise to Microsoft - lock, stock, and barrel.

Bleszinski has been carefully weighing his options since he left Epic. Still, Bleszinski has been a source of interesting commentary on the industry and where it is heading. Bleszinski also added, "My headspace is in the future now, not the past. I have come to realize that until you give people something new to focus on, they will obsess about the past. (Good problem to have!)"

As far as the future of the Gears of War Franchise, Bleszinski thinks, "To be honest, I don't think the franchise could be in better hands. Gears is just as much Rod's baby as it was mine. He'll take good care of her."

Bleszinski also revealed that he heard from Phil Spencer, VP of Microsoft Studios, to let him know about the deal. Bleszinski says that, “I think Black Tusk will do a fantastic job with Gears.” To fans that have questions about the future of the franchise, we don’t think you could get a better endorsement than that.

Also, as Bleszinski points out, we will finally have an answer to the question whether or not Gears of War will ever come to the PlayStation; and the answer now looks as it is not going to happen.
