Games console maker Nintendo is continuing to take the Wii by ignoring what its customers want in favour of an ideology which is costing it millions. Nintendo has been explaining to GameSpot why it does not want to develop games on mobiles, which are currently eating into its console market.

It claimed that its Nintendo 3DS software cannot be replicated on smart devices. Nintendo veteran producer Kensuke Tanabe said that games like Mario and Donkey Kong control input is an important part.

“I think if you're trying to replicate that feeling of control that you have traditional to those games, translating those to a smart device, that's a just a really, really difficult task," Tanabe said. 

"Of course I'm not ignoring the fact that the marketplace is flooded with these devices and that there are a lot of games created specifically for them… I don't have a curiosity of or feeling of needing to create or wanting to create games for those devices," he added.

Therefore, he is saying he wants Nintendo games to be played on Nintendo hardware and it does not matter what customers want. Nintendo has confirmed that it is never bringing the Mario franchise to smartphones.
