Apple fumes over Dr Dre’s Beats leak

Written by Nick Farrell

Deal on hold

Apple’s deal to buy Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre’s Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion is being delayed because the fruity cargo cult is miffed that the news was leaked. The deal should have been announced in days, but it seems that nothing has happened.

There are five things which could be delaying the deal but the most obvious is Apple is right royally furious that Dre announced that the sale made him a billionare. To be fair this is the biggest deal that Apple has ever done, and certainly Tim Cook’s biggest so they are probably a little nervy. What might have set Apple off was that a video went up on Facebook of an ‘excited’ Dr. Dre with R&B singer/former Coca Cola pin-up Tyrese.

In the video it said how Dre will be hip-hop’s first billionaire and other nice things about Compton. One of the things people forget about Apple is that despite its image being one of being sexy and cool, it is really just as boring as IBM, so this sort of video would scare the BeJesus out of Jobs’ mob.

In fact it is not clear if Iovine and Dre would have jobs in the Apple after the buyout. The last thing that Apple needs is people who help them to “Think Different”.
