Rebellion, the developer of Sniper Elite 3 has confirmed that the Xbox One version of the game will need a 16GB day one patch. The reason for the update is that Rebellion continued to work on and optimize the game after it was sent out to manufacturing.

Besides the work that was done to sync up the retail disc version and the digital download version of the game, Rebellion continued to optimize the game so that it was playable on the Xbox One version at native 1080p. This means that the game is in 1080p on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.

While Rebellion knows that due to the size of the day one update for the Xbox One version, some might not be too happy in having to wait to download such a large update. The developer promises that the update is worth it and actually reduces the size of the game’s install on the hard drive.

Other versions of Sniper Elite 3 will be getting day one updates as well, but they are not close to the size of the day one update for the Xbox One version of the game.
