On slate for launch in first half of 2009

Several sources are telling us that Apple is planning a slight iPhone refresh that will be targeted for the first part of 2009.

The big news of this iPhone refresh is that Apple will be adding several colored versions of the popular iPhone to the lineup. This really comes as no surprise, as the new plastic back of the iPhone makes adding colors very easy and very cheap to do.

In addition to the iPhone in colors, we are also hearing that we will see a new iPhone in the first half of 2009. We think that this will be a revised or updated version of the current iPhone that will be released, in addition to the upcoming iPhone Nano that is said to already be in development for a launch late this year.

The iPhone mania is just so popular that Apple believes it is impacting iPod sales to a degree; and they believe that they need more different models to remain competitive with the latest offerings from other vendors.
