by on09 September 2014

June 2nd, 2015 will be release day

Warner Bros and developer Rocksteady have finally announced a release date for Batman: Arkham Knight. The game will have a global release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on June 2nd, 2015. There will be two special editions to choose from for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The PC version will only have a single special edition from which to choose.

The first of the special editions is called the Batman: Arkham Knight Limited Edition. The Limited Edition version will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It includes: Custom Art Book – 80 Page, Full Colour Art Book Showcasing the concept art of Batman Arkham Knight, Limited Edition SteelBook – Unique SteelBook case and game disc, Comic Book – Limited Edition DC Comics Batman: Arkham Knight #0 Comic Book, Exclusive Character Skin Pack – Three Unique Skins from DC Comics – The New 52, and Batman Memorial Statue – Imposing statue commemorating Gotham’s Protector, the Dark Knight.

The second special edition is called the Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition. The Batmobile Edition will only be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and includes: Custom Art Book – 80 Page, Full Colour Art Book Showcasing the concept art of Batman Arkham Knight, Limited Edition SteelBook – Unique SteelBook case and game disc, Comic Book – Limited Edition DC Comics Batman: Arkham Knight #0 Comic Book, Exclusive Character Skin Pack – Three Unique Skins from DC Comics – The New 52, and
Transforming Batmobile Statue – Fully transformable Batmobile statue realised in exquisite detail by TriForce.

So buyers will have a choice of the regular edition of Arkham Knight for $59.99, the Arkham Knight Limited Edition version for $99.99, or the Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition for $199.99. It is our understanding that like most special edition offerings, the Batmobile Edition will be very limited, so if you really have to have it, you are going to want to pre-order it soon to make sure you lock one in.

It seems that we continue to be asked if there is going to be some sort of charge of heart in the end and there will be a release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We can tell you that our sources tell us that as Rocksteady has promised, this is a next-generation game from the ground up and there is no chance that we will see a release of Arkham Knight on the 360 or PS3. If you want to play it, you will have to have the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or a PC that has the power to run it.
