by on26 September 2014

Fixes broken cellular, touch ID, iHealth

That was quick. Apple has released iOS 8.0.2 in order to address a number of iOS 8.0 bugs and the fact that iOS 8.0.1 rendered cell services useless on many iPhones, along with Touch ID didn’t work.

Apple has been dealing with a substantial number of affected iOS 8.0.1 users and claims that 40,000 people were affected by it. However, we don’t know if there were people that weren’t affected by it following the latest update. Apple was fast to pull the update from its servers, and we are not sure about the total number of iOS 8.0.1 downloads. The iOS 8.0.1 update was supposed to fix the big iHeath app bug, but it managed to break the cell service and the Touch ID in the process.

iOS 8.0.2 fixes cellular network issues and Touch ID

The iOS 8.0.2 comes with eight major fixes and first of them is that it “fixes an issue in iOS 8.0.1 that impacted cellular network connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus."

The second major thing is that HeathKit apps are made available at App store since the big OS bug has been fixed and Apple has fixed the issue where third-party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode.

Some applications had issue accessing some photos from the Photo Library and that has been fixed now, The new update improves "the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus" and if fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages. This one reminds me of the iPhone 2G that I purchased back in September 2007 and trip to China afterwards that caused a massive phone bill simply as you could not disable data back then.

Eight bugs have been addressed

Apple claims it has better support for Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases feature and has fixed an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups. You definitely need your ringtones transferred from your iPhone 5 or 5S to a new iPhone 6 or iBend 6 Plus.

Last on the list of fixed features is a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari and this was a major problem for all these journalists and sales people as well as Twitter, Facebook or Instagram lovers who feel the need share pictures of their meals at random restaurants.

In case that you already got an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus you better stop reading and check whether the update is available.
