HTC made Nexus 9 hits FCC

by on06 October 2014

We expect to see it in a month

HTC is having a big event that takes place on the October 8th in New York and the company is expected to announce the successor to the HTC One M8 called HTC One M8 Eye, or HTC Desire Eye, as well as a GoPro lookalike camera.

The HTC One M8 Eye turns out to have two 13-megapixel cameras, one for selfies and one for proper photos. This will be the first phone with such a high megapixel count on the front and back. Some reports claim that there will be a cheaper, Desire model with a 13-megapixel camera too.

Many have suggested that the Nexus 9 might hit the stage, but let us remind you, Nexus is Google not HTC, so it is up to Google to announce this product at an event.

Nexus 9 supports 802.11ac

The tablet, codenamed Volantis or Flounder, will end up with Nexus 9 branding . It has a Tegra TK1 64-bit dual-core processor based on Nvidia's own Denver CPU core and we expect to see this tablet in about a month's time.

The FCC received two versions to see if they comply with the US standards and regulations. Both 16GB and 32GB and versions of the tablet are fine.

The device has Bluetooth and 802.11ac but we didn’t see any proof that it supports LTE. We do believe that there will be a LTE version of Nexus 9. It turns out that the 32-bit quad-core Tegra TK1 remains reserved for Nvidia based Shield Tablet, while the dual-core 64 bit Tegra TK1 64-bit will land in Google's tablet.

Let's see how it sells, last year's Nexus 7 2013 failed to excite consumers due to its rather obsolete Snapdragon S4 chip and outdated form factor.
