Price cut helps Xbox One ship 10m units

by on14 November 2014

Has outsold the PS4 in the US the last two weeks

The $50 price cut that Microsoft gave the Xbox One in the US is apparently paying dividends. Microsoft claims that the Xbox One has out sold the PlayStation 4 the last two weeks. In fact Microsoft says that over 10 million units have been shipped to retailers since the November launch last year.

Microsoft claims that the price cut when combined with the recent release of blockbuster titles for the Xbox One has helped the console more than triple its sales since November 2nd when the price cut was announced for the Xbox One console. (The price cut on the Xbox One console which lowered the price of the console to $349 in the lowest configuration is currently only scheduled to last till early January when the promotion ends.)

Microsoft has been turning up with the heat in recent weeks as two of its major exclusive titles have arrived for the Xbox One. Halo: The Master Chief Collection arrived earlier this week and Sunset Overdrive in the weeks prior. Of course this was helped with a hearty helping of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Assassin’s Creed Unity also being released. This does help build the necessary momentum going into what can only be described as a difficult holiday season for the Xbox One and hopefully a successful one.
