First time in Japan

Microsoft’s Xbox
360 weekly sales exceeded those of Sony's PlayStation 3 in Japan for the first time two weeks ago. Microsoft announced that it sold 28,116 Xbox 360 units for the week ending August 10th, while the PS3 only sold 10,705 units.

Sales were attributed to the launch of the Namco Bandai’s role-playing game, “Tales of Vesperia” on August 7th in Japan. However, both companies trail the sales of Nintendo’s Wii, which reported sales during the week of August 14th of 41,044 units. Nintendo’s Wii sales and popular games have been blowing the competition out of the water since the Wii launch in 2006.

The launch of “Tales of Vesperia” for Xbox 360 will launch in North America on August 26th and should boost sales of the Xbox 360 accordingly in North America.
