Is a Board member in other places, too

HP has announced that it has named a new Director to head its Board of Directors starting in January 2009.

Rajiv Gupta is the current Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rohm and Haas, a chemical manufacturing company, a company he has been with since 1971.  Gupta is not a stranger to corporate Boards: he currently also serves on the Boards of Tyco International and The Vanguard Group.

"For nine years as chairman and CEO, Raj Gupta has successfully guided Rohm and Haas through today's ever-evolving global business environment," said Mark Hurd, CEO of HP. "We look forward to welcoming his financial, operational, and corporate governance expertise to the HP board of directors."

As the 11th member of HP's board, Gupta will receive an annual salary of $100,000 and $175,000 in HP stock, according to the company's most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He will also receive an extra $2,000 per Board meeting if he attends more than six Board meetings.
