A few fixes and stability improvements

Apple has pushed out version 2.2.1 firmware updates for both the iPhone and iPod Touch. The 2.2.1 update, which is available from iTunes, is compatible with both the first generation iPhone as well as the new 3G iPhone.

The update primarily focuses on a variety of non-specific bug fixes and stability improvements. The biggest of these include enhancements to the overall stability of the Safari browser as well as a major fix to address a problem with images that are saved from Mail that do not display correctly in the camera roll.

For the iPod Touch, the enhancements above are included as well as a fix that addresses an issue with Apple Lossless (ALAC) files that caused them to sometimes skip during playback.

The update checks in at almost 247MB. Rumors suggest that some other minor fixes and tweaks have been included with the update, but as of yet we have no clue as to what the fixes might be.
