While Capcom claims that they are not sure where the rumors started that June 29th would see the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, the truth of the matter is that it will not arrive till late July and could, in fact, arrive in early August according to our sources.

The original release date came by way of Marvel’s financial report back in May that confirmed a June 29th release for the title. Of course, as with any financial report it contained the disclaimer that release dates are subject to change.

What is important to note here is that when talking about release dates, you can really only trust what the developer or publisher tells you, as the news from the property holder could be nothing more than wishful thinking on their part. I guess they want to project when they believe that they will be able to get some revenue from the release, but in this case they were about a month off. We have to wonder if they said June, but meant July do to some sort of a typo.
