800 new jobs part of the deal

Ubisoft announced today that they will be opening a new studio in Toronto, Canada that will create 800 new jobs in the process. Ontario residents will be investing $260 million dollars as part of their partnership with Ubisoft in the studio.

Several elected officials spoke at the press conference and proclaimed that the video game industry is not kid’s stuff and has become a very serious business that can create good, high-paying jobs. Once open, the studio will be focused on creating and developing triple-A video gaming titles.

The new Toronto studio for Ubisoft will join the other Ubisoft studio facilities that have about 2,000 employees currently. The deal for the studio has been in development for some time, according to our sources. From what our sources tell us, while the studio is expected to employ almost 800, it could take as long as ten years for the studio to actually reach this number.
