New sweepstakes announced with more prizes

It seems that Microsoft is pleased with the direction that the 1 vs. 100 Beta has been heading and things are going so swimmingly that the current sweepstakes will end on July 12th and a new sweepstakes will start on July 13th. Entries for the sweepstakes prizes are acquired by playing 1 vs. 100 and answering questions correctly.

The news that is perhaps the big draw, however, is that Microsoft points will be awarded to the “One”, “Mob” and “Crowd” starting on Friday July 10th. To this point, although messages of Microsoft Points and Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade title has been shown as being awarded, disclaimers both upon entry in to the game as well as announcements by the host indicate that these prizes are not being awarded during the beta testing phase, but this is all about to change.

According to our understanding, each Live game the “One” (if he is able to knock everyone in the “Mob” out) will receive 10,000 Microsoft Points which is about $125 US. As the game progresses, the “One” can, of course, take the money, which can range up to 6,000 Microsoft Points, which is about $75 US.

In the event that the “One” misses a question, those surviving members of the “Mob” will get a free Xbox Live Arcade title and a share of Microsoft Points which will likely be in the range of between $1 US and $5 US, depending on a number of members of the “Mob” left, as well as the amount of money available at that level due to the progression of the game. In addition, the top three players in the “Crowd” will continue to be able to answer questions for sweepstakes entries, but the top three players in each game will win an Xbox Live Arcade title, as well.

While the 1 vs. 100 Beta has been open to all Xbox Live Gold members since it started, it has been open to Xbox Live Silver level members occasionally. The game itself is a partnership between Microsoft and Endermol, who actually produces the show. While 1 vs. 100 does feature sponsorship and advertising as part of its revenue stream, it does not appear as of yet that a lot of advertising has been secured. It is still unknown at this time if players will be required to purchase a “Season Pass” to the game with Microsoft Points once the actual game goes live, but rumors continue to suggest that this is the case.
