Over the weekend we had several of our sources tell us that Dell will finally officially announce, or even launch, its first ever smartphone later this week.

According to the whispers that we hear, it will actually be announced in China; and the Android-based model from Dell will offer a full touchscreen interface and do away with the keyboard. The rest of the specs are said to be very much in line with other Android-based models.

While we know that Dell has been working on a smartphone for some time, we also know that after a bit of hard rejection, the company was forced to return to the drawing board to make some revisions. We know that despite the warnings, the company wants to follow Apple into the smartphone market and they are hoping to leverage their corporate relationships to make the smartphone popular. We will just have to wait and see.
