PS3 price cut all but official

$100 on select models

According
to a few recent ads, Sony's PlayStation 3 will get a significant price cut, at least for some SKUs.

The 80GB and 160GB models will drop by $100, to $299 and $399 respectively. The ads clearly state that this is a limited offer, stating "while supplies last", so it is pretty obvious Sony is trying to get rid of excess stock as it prepares to drop certain low-end SKUs.

A new slim version of the PS3 is also expected to appear soon, and the price cut should make the older models a bit more appealing once the anorexic PS3 launches.

More here.
