According to a Digitimes report, Foxconn has landed a contract to
produce Apple's long rumoured tablet. The device should launch sometime
in Q1 2010, and Foxconn should ship 300,000 to 400,000 units in Q1.
The tablet should sport a 10.6-inch screen and Digitimes believes it
will focus on e-book functionality rather than music. Of course,
exceptional battery life and internet connectivity are a must for such
a device. The same sources told Digitimes that other vendors, such as
HP, will offer similar designs in Q2 2010.
It's still a bit too far of to speculate on the exact specs of these
devices. Basically it seems we're looking at some sort of hybrid
tablets, half way between dumbed down PCs and oversized smartphones.
