Still no word on possible North American release

Many have been very attracted to the black colored version of the Nintendo Wii that was released in Japan earlier this year, but so far no other region outside of Japan has been lucky enough to get what is being called the “Special Edition” black version of the Wii.

That is all about to change starting November 6th, as we are told that the United Kingdom will find the black colored Wii on retailer shelves, as will the rest of Europe starting November 20th.

From the information we have gathered, the black version of the Wii will include pretty much the same things that you find in the normal Wii bundle these days. Users will get the remote, nunchuk, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and the Wii MotionPlus upgrade.

Sources tell us that the standard white colored version of the console will not be going away; instead, it will be sold right along with the black version of the Wii. As far as we know from our sources, there are no differences between the two systems other than the color of the unit and the Wii accessories included with the unit.

In the meantime, North America will be getting the black version of the Wii remote and nunchuk, which will go on sale starting November 16th. Of course, this leads us to believe that our sources are correct that the black version of the Wii will make its way into the North American market at some point in the future; we just don’t know when.

While Nintendo reported a surge in sales when the black version of the Wii was released, some don’t buy the fact that the color of the console had that much of an impact on sales. Instead, many think that it had more to do with the release of Monster Hunter 3 from Capcom, which arrived in Japan about the same time that the black version of the Wii was released.
