Today at a pre Shanghai IDF conference call, Stephen L. Smith, Vice President, Director, Digital Enterprise Group Operations at Intel has confirmed that Larrabee, its multi-functional part, will be able to support both OpenGL and DirectX.

Intel didn’t want to answer many questions and to go into specifics, but it did say that DirectX will work but nothing more specific than that. It implies that the current games based on DirectX and Open GL should work on Larrabee, at least there is a chance they will.

We can just imagine how many problems Intel will face in order to make any decent drivers for its multi-computational platform, also known as a Larrabee. Sounds aggressive and arrogant, but let’s hope that they can pull it off.
