10ºC cooler

Asus has announced a new addition to its 9600GT series, branded ASUS EN9600GT SILENT/HTDI/512M. As you could have guessed from the name of this card, this is a passively cooled 9600GT, which uses Asus's V-Cool heatsink with three heatpipes.

According to the press release, Asus claims that this card has 10 degrees Celsius lower temperature when compared to the reference cooled 9600GT, which is a great result if you know that this one produces zero decibels of noise. The only drawback is that this card is a dual slot solution.

The new card works at 650MHz for the core, 1625MHz for Shaders and 900MHz (1,800MHz effective) for 512MB of GDDR3 memory. The card supports HDMI over DVI/HDMI adapter, of course with a little help from internal S/PDIF header, so that audio would be available over that same HDMI cable.

Unfortunately, as every other press release from Asus, this one also doesn't include an availability date or the price.
