Some partners won't bother

Our colleagues from VR-Zone have managed to score a picture of the HD 3850 X2, a new dual GPU solution from DAAMIT. According to rumors, this new dual GPU solution is going to be ready in late Q2, or in time for Computex. Judging from the pictures at VR-Zone, Asus likes this and will probably be the first partner to announce this card, which works at 668MHz for the core and comes with 1GB GDDR3 memory clocked at 829MHz (1.658GHz effective).

The mentioned Asus card looks exactly like the HD 3870 X2 dual fan cooled card from Asus. Other rumors around this card suggested that some of the partners just won't bother to make this card since the expected price is going to range from $299 to $349, which is just way too much. Of course, you must consider that the price of HD 3870 X2 is going to drop and the performance just can't be compared.

One of our sources close to a major partner told us that this card is just not going to happen, at least not with that specific partner. These things might change, but with the current rumored price we just doubt that this card will make a serious impact on the market; but again that is something we just need to wait and see.
