Up to 30% faster than the competition

Just a few weeks after the launch of its Chrome 430GT chip, which gave the competition quite a run for its money, S3 has announced the 4300E Embedded multi-media graphics processor. According to the press release, this little thing should outperform the competition by as much as 30 percent.

The new 4300E is made in the 65nm manufacturing process and it can be set to work at frequencies ranging from 300MHz to 600MHz. It supports up to 256MB of either GDDR2 or GDDR3 memory. The new 4300E comes with features such as DirectX 10.1 support, OpenGL 2.1, PCI-Express 2.0 and an advanced high quality programmable video core that should lower the usage of the CPU while playing high-definition video.

The 4300E features two analog RAMDACs for CRT connectivity as well as dual-link DVI/HDMI with HDPC and dual channel LVDS transmitters. It is fully compatible with Windows XP and is WHQL certified for Windows Vista.

This little chip will debut at ESC (Embedded Systems Conference) in San Jose, California on April 15-18th. A SDK and hardware development kit for the 4300E will be available in June 2008.
