23 percent on Vista

Our good friend W1zzard has created a nice tool that everyone knows as GPU-Z. One great side of that tool is that it can make a nice data base of the submitted scores and just like we could learn much about the gaming market from Steam, we can now use GPU-Z data base.

The tool shows that 75 percent of 163,888 people, mostly gamers and enthusiasts are still using Windows XP. A modest 23 percent are using Vista and this number includes 64 and 32 bit vista users. An additional 3 percent are all the other operating systems, where Windows 2003 has 1 percent, Windows 2000 and Windows XP 64-bit each have one percent. The number sums up to 101 percent, but it’s probably the problem of rounding the scores up.

The tool creator has told us that this version of the tool doesn’t detect Vista 64-bit and therefore it shows that no one is actually using it, but this will be fixed in the next revision.

Nvidia is in 62 percent of these systems, while ATI managed to capture one third with 34 percent of the share; but this is another story altogether.

You can check the numbers here.
