New media for military use

The US military
has started using content sharing websites for their media promotion needs. Popular services such as YouTube, Flickr and Del.icio.us are hosting content prepared by US Army and D.o.D. employees.

Videos and photos are being uploaded to the sites by the Army.mil team, the people in charge of the official Army web. Army.mil has over 5 milion visitors each month, and their staff believe that at least a million people a month will access their content on YouTube alone.

Army.mil officials believe the use of new and popular services will help the army reach a part of the public that was not too keen to find out more about their activities.
