Networking giant Cisco has announced that it is buying a a small chip start-up based in Mountain View.
In a press release the San Jose computer networking company said it was buying .SpansLogic which makes processors that speed the movement of digital packets across computer networks.Cisco wants the technology to boost the efficiency of its switches by adding the SpansLogic chips.
Founded
in 2004, SpansLogic has just 14 employees. Cisco said it expects the
deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, to be completed by April
28, the end of its fiscal third quarter.
