Starts with Digital Picture Frames

Sapphire has announced that it is expanding into digital lifestyle products with the launch of its series of Digital Picture Frames. Sapphire has started with three products, or rather three formats: eight-inch 800 x 480 with 16:9 ratio, eight-inch 800x600 with 4:3 ratio and 10.2-inch 800x480 with 16:9 ratio.

The entire lineup is based on TFT LCD technology with 250cd brightness. The DPFs support JPEG images and MPEG, DAT and AVI video. They're equipped with a built-in amplifier and stereo speakers. Images can be loaded via integrated memory card reader for Compact Flash, SD, XD, Memory Stick and MMC cards from 32MB up to 2GB, or over the USB cable.

The new DPFs are controlled by a simple remote control, and come with an automatic slide show feature.
