No appeal
Microsoft has decided it will not appeal an antitrust ruling against it in South Korea. The company sent a formal request to the Seoul High Court last week to cancel the appeal over the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) ruling.
The company did not give any reasons for its decision not to appeal, but it is more than certainly due to the fact that it lost a similar action in the EU.
According to AFP, South Korean FTC officials have declared a win over Microsoft in the case. South Korea's antitrust body ruled last year that Microsoft had breached antitrust laws by bundling its Windows operating system with its Media Player and instant messaging programs.
The company was ordered to pay a $35 million dollar fine and strip its popular software from its Windows operating systems.
